Red Cross in Safety City

Safety City

The American Red Cross, Knoxville Area Chapter, in partnership with Safety City, has a safety education building for kids located in Safety City. The building was built in 2002, thanks to numerous contributions of time and resources from the general community, and is one of only two buildings in Safety City that people can walk into.

Safety City is a miniature city built by the City of Knoxville to educate children about safety measures and to host youth-oriented safety events for the city. Laid out as a series of city blocks with homes, restaurants, and other businesses, Safety City looks like a little city of Knoxville, right down to the replica Sunsphere. The American Red Cross, as the nation's leader in health and safety education, felt as though participating in Safety City was a natural fit for the organization, and our facility is also used as a First Aid station for big events such as Halloween in the city and Safety Bike Fairs that are hosted throughout the year.

For more information on the facility, contact the Communications department at 865-584-2999.
