ERVs: Ready, Set, Roll Course (ARC 3068-4)
The purpose of this basic level Disaster Services course
is to prepare volunteers and
employees of the Red Cross to safely and effectively use
an Emergency Response
Vehicle (ERV) and its equipment to meet feeding and other
service needs of people
affected by disaster.
Participants will be volunteers and employees of the
Red Cross who work on Emergency
Response Vehicles.
This course consists of two parts. The first part contains
approximately three hours of
self-study. At the conclusion of the self-study, participants
must attend the second part,
which consists of the combination of an ERV orientation
and a road test. Participants
must complete both parts of the course. The total estimated
time to complete the
second part of the course is dependent upon the number
of participants and the
availability of equipment.
Participants are required to have a valid driver’s
license and a satisfactory Department of
Motor Vehicle (DMV) Report and Defensive Driving Course
Certificate.
Note:
Participants are also required to have successfully completed
the
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After completing this training, participants will be able
to—
- Identify and use all ERV equipment.
- Explain what is meant by the term “Integrated
Service Delivery.”
- Describe safe food handling procedures.
- Describe how the dissemination and collection of
information provide quality
service to clients.
- Explain proper maintenance requirements and procedures.
SCHEDULING THE COURSE
This course is designed as a self-study. Participants
must successfully complete the
self-study portion of the course using the ERVs: Ready,
Set, Roll Participant’s
Workbook (ARC 3068-4A) and the ERVs: Ready, Set, Roll
video (ARC 3068-4V).
Following the self-study portion of the course and its
review, participants will meet with
an instructor to complete an ERV orientation and road
test.
